Windows MarketPlace

Windows Marketplace has finally been launch for Window Mobile Users on the Window Mobile 6.5 platform. Finally Window Mobile Users can get a store similar to iPhone or iPod Touch App Store. The Marketplace will also be available to Window Mobile users 6.1 at a later time.

A wide range of applications, games,ebooks and other applications are already available for download on the Marketplace. There are free and paid applications in Marketplace which is similar to Apple App Store. But Microsoft is not controlling the pricing and some apps and games are more expensive than Apple Apps Store. Users are not lure to buy as most of the items look this over price as compared with Apple Apps Store. It is worth it to give the free apps a try as it is totally free. You need to have a Windows Live ID to access the Marketplace. It is available worldwide to all international customers.

Accessing MarketPlace on WM6.5
Press Start and select Marketplace. The application will download the latest Marketplace software if your accessing it the first time. In addition, you also need to have a Windows Live ID in order to sign in and download the free games and applications. Marketplace will only be available to WM 6.0 and 6.1 users at the end of 2009.

Samsung Omnia 2 users will now be able to access the Marketplace for free and paid games or applications.

Threaded Messaging on WinMo 6.5

Threaded Messaging is now available on Window Mobile 6.5 for Samsung Omnia 2, i8000.

 

All your sent and received message will now appear together for the same contact. It even categorized the messages according to the date sent and received. The down side of this is if you have many messages for the same contact, it will take some time to load. You might expect 2 or 3 secs before loading while third part applications like SMS-Chat are faster.

Deleting Threaded SMS

You are also able to delete the whole threaded messaging or some of the messaging only. If you want to delete the threaded messaging for the contact, click and hold on the message for a few seconds and a sub menu will pop out. Press the Delete button and all the threaded messaging for the contact will be deleted.

Deleteing Individual SMS

You can also delete individual sms for the contact threaded messaging.

1. Go into the Contact Threaded Messaging
2. Press Menu and then the Delete button.
3. Put a tick on the messages u want to delete and hit the Delete button

Window Mobile 6.5 Release

Window Mobile 6.5 Upgrade has been release for Samsung Omnia 2. All Singapore users may go to the Samsung Service Centre to upgrade your Omnia 2, i8000. My advise is to do the upgrade at Plaza Singapura as there are more service counters. The upgrade takes about 1 hour to complete.
