Chinese Input On Samsung Omnia 2

Samsung Omnia 2 users who have bought their phone in Singapore which are on firmware 6.5 will all have the chinese input on their Omnia 2. All our oversea customers who have bought the phone through us also will have the chinese input on Your Omnia 2 as your firmware is Version 6.5 for all Omnia 2 sold after Jan 2010.

Samsung Singapore has embedded the chinese input software, PlumKeypad & MoAKey on the Singapore Firmware. Singapore Unique Firmware gives u not one but two chinese input software for free.

Samsung Omnia 2 Keyboard

Samsung is providing their usual default QWERTY keyboard which features bigger button than the Window Mobile Version. It is easy to enter and the characters will become big for a while after u press it. The grey out symbol on the top left corner of each key could be inserted by pressing and holding the key Press the MODE button to switch between predictive text. A Green xt9 means it is in the predictive text mode while the grey out xt9 means character input only.

There are 2 hidden keyboards which allow you to change from QWERTY keyboard to the 12 keypad or 20 keypad. Press and hold the MODE button to bring up the change keyboard layout screen. You will now be able to change it to 12 or 20 keypad. Most user will prefer to use the QWERTY keyboard.

There are additional default keyboard like the Block Recognizer, Keyboard, Letter Recognizer and Transcriber which are already included as part of the Window Mobile Software. But the Samsung Keypad is a third party keyboard and is developed by Samsung and better than the default WM keyboard as the keys are larger and easier to press with the fingers.

Samsung has install two additional keyboard, Plum Keypad and MoAKey in the WM 6.5 ROM for Asia users who wanted to have Chinese Input. Singapore Omnia 2 users will therefore have 3 third part keyboard for them to use which allow English and Chinese input.

Chinese Input on Omnia 2

Samsung Omnia 2 does not provide Chinese Input Software on their keyboard. But Samsung will be addressing this problem in their next firmware upgrade. In the mean time, you can made use of third party Chinese Input Software to overcome this problem.

You need to use the WVGA Screen Size keyboard as your Omnia 2 is a 400X800 pixels screen.

This keyboard supports Chinese Character Input. It supports Chinese Pinyin and Chinese Cangjie. It is not a freeware and cost US$9.75.
