Download and install Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 if you use Windows XP or an earlier version of the Windows operating system on your computer and you want to sync Microsoft Office Outlook data or other files, including contacts, pictures and music, between your phone and your computer. ActiveSync is only compatible with Windows XP or earlier. Active Sync 4.5 comes on the CD inside your Omnia 2 package.
Setup Omnia 2 with Active Sync
Install the Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 from the CD provided in your Omnia 2 box. After installation, connect the USB Cable to your Omnia and plug it into the computer. The Active Syn 4.5 will detect your Omnia 2 and perform the necessary setup. You should see the name GT-I8000 as your profile name if this is the only Omnia 2 connected to your computer.
ActiveSync 4.5 will sync all your Omnia 2 Contacts to your Outlook. It also allow you to sync your Calendar, Email, Notes, and Tasks to the Outlook. If you hard reset your Omnia 2, you will lost all the data on your phone. But you will be able to sync back all the data as it has been kept on your computer. The best practice is to sync your Omnia 2 and computer to prevent any data loss on your Omnia 2.
Settings for Active Sync 4.5
You must connect your Omnia 2 to your computer in order to access the settings for this phone.
Go to Tools - Options and you will see the Settings as below.
I have enabled to sync Contacts and Files for my Omnia 2 only. You can choose to sync Contacts, Calendar, Email, Notes, Task, Favourites, Media and Files according to your needs by juts clicking the box. Click OK to save your settings.
