The Great Winter Hunt 09

The Festive Comet is an exclusive location for The Great Winter Hunt '09. There are no requirements for any Hunters to enter. Hunters will also be relieved to learn that mice are unable to steal gold, cheese, or points in the Festive Comet.

There is no Trapsmith, Cheese Shoppe, or Cartographer at the Festive Comet. However, there is a gift shop known as the Festive Gift Shoppe. Please buy your cheese at Town of Gnawnia before going to the festive Comet. You may use your SUPER|brie+ to attract the mouse to your trap.

You will need different type of trap setup as there are Hydro, Physical, Forgotten and Tactical Mouse. As for the Special Mouse, there are no known trap setup and we will update you once we found a way to catch this Mouse.

Travel Cost
The best way to get to the Festive Comet is via the Town of Gnawnia. Travel to the Town of Gnawnia first as it cost you 0 Gold. Then travel to the Festive Comet and it cost you 863 Gold.

Gingerbread Cheese (GB)
Gingerbread Cheese is the new cheese available for this event. It is obtained by smashing Gingerbread Planks* using the Hunter Hammer. Smashing 1 Gingerbread Plank produces 15 pieces of Gingerbread Cheese.

*Gingerbread Planks are currently available as gifts from the Festive Shoppe. This means you will need a friend to send it to you. They are also occasionally dropped from mice caught in the Festive Comet.

SuperBrie (SB)
You can get them from Trade Forums or Donate to the developers.
Please take note that it is more expensive to use than Gingerbread Cheese.
Currently it is still unknown if using SuperBrie will attract different mice. But many are using SuperBrie first before they start collecting the Gingerbread Planks.

Loot
The mices here are dropping special loot and some are available on the Festive Shoppe also. You may want to collect all the loot and it maybe useful for your hunt or for future use.

Trap Setup
Based on the mice available as mentioned above, use your strongest/luckiest trap setup and hope for the best. I am switching between different trap setups for the different type of mouse.

6. Partybot/Magma
7. Digby Drillbot/Magma

Take note that you may get bullied by the Gargoyle and Hydra based on your setup! (Hydro, Forgotten, etc.)

RhinoBot Trap

The RhinoBot can be obtained in the Tribal Isles and is generally used in Derr Dunes against the powerful Physical mice in that location. This Trap can only be crafted and cannot be bought at any Trapsmith.

Items needed for crafting the RhinoBot Trap

Digby DrillBot Parts
Use the Hammer to smash your Digby DrillBot Trap to produce the Digby DrillBot Parts

Rhino Horn
Catch the Aged Mouse at the Cape Clawed which will drop the loot of the Rhino Horn.

RhinoBot Blueprints
The blueprints can be purchased at the General Store in Cape Clawed for 940,000 gold.

Stale SUPERbrie+
The easiest way to collect Stale SUPER|brie+ is to head to either the Forbidden Grove or the Acolyte Realm and use SUPER|brie+ with a trap setup that has an Extremely Stale cheese effect or worse. Stale SUPER|brie+ can also be created without using SUPER|brie+ by crafting Runic without using Magic Essence, traveling outside Bristle Woods, and using a trap with an Extremely Stale or worse cheese effect.
Stale SUPER|brie+ is also dropped by Aged mice in Cape Clawed.

Elub Chieftain Mouse with Blueprint

The Elub Chieftain Mouse is a breed of mouse found in the Tribal Isles region. They are known to drop Blue Pepper Seeds in Elub Shore. In addition, they also drop an important loot, Ancient Frayed Blueprint. Elub Chieftain mice have been found to be especially attracted to Shell cheese, to the point that any other kind of cheese will simply not suffice.

I have used Ancient Spear Gun Trap with Magma Base and using Shell Cheese as my bait to catch the Elub Chieftain Mouse with Ancient Frayed Blueprint Piece.

Stale Super Brie

You may have a lot of Super Brie but Stale SuperBrie cannot be bought or crafted. Stale SuperBrie is an essential item used for crafting the RhinoBot Trap.

The easiest way to collect Stale SUPER|Brie+ is to head to either the Forbidden Grove or the Acolyte Realm and use SUPER|Brie+ with a trap setup that has an Extremely Stale cheese effect or worse. I have used the Arcane Capturing Rod Of Never Yielding Mystery with Magma Base to get Stale SuperBrie. Every time my SuperBrie cheese turn stale, I will get the Stale SuperBrie.

Stale SUPER|brie+ can also be created without using SUPER|brie+ by crafting Runic without using Magic Essence, traveling outside Bristle Woods, and using a trap with an Extremely Stale or worse cheese effect. Stale SUPER|brie+ is also dropped by Aged mice in Cape Clawed.

Aged Mouse with Rhino Horn

The Aged Mouse is a breed of mouse found in the Tribal Isles region. They are known to drop Rhino Horn and Stale SUPERbrie+ in Cape Clawed. Aged mice have been found to be especially attracted to Crunchy cheese, to the point that any other kind of cheese will simply not suffice.

I have used Christmas Cracker Mouse Trap with Magma Base and using Crunchy Cheese as my bait to catch the Aged Mouse with Rhino Horn.

Christmas Cracker Trap

Christmas Crack Trap only appear during the The Great Winter Hunt 2009.The only way to obtain this trap is to exchange all the twelve items you have found during the 12 Days 'til Christmas Event.

Once you have collected all 12 items from the 12 Days 'til Christmas Event, bring them to me and I'll convert them into the limited edition trap! Alternatively, if you have not collected all 12 items or simply do not want a new trap you may exchange each item for 10 SUPER|brie+ each.

Remarks
You still have some time to get the 12 special items if you are still missing it. The items will become more difficult to get as there are lesser loots for all mousehunters as the days past by. SuperBrie+ will be much better at attracting the special event mice with the loot than the Gingerbread Cheese.

Twelve Liters of Egg Nog

Special loot items given by the king. It is still unsure what we can do with the special loot of Twelve Liters of Egg Nog. This is a whole lot of egg nog. You could supply a whole party with it-- possibly two. The only problem is that the lid seems to be stuck on. And there's an expiry date on the bottom of the canister. It reads June, 2010. Hopefully someone will be able to get it open by then.   More will be known at the end of the Great Winter Hunt 09.

Eleven Coloured Lights

Special loot items given by the king. It is still unsure what we can do with the special loot of Eleven Coloured Lights. Colored red, green and blue, these lights blink in a variety of different patterns. They add instant festivity to a Christmas tree, house, reindeer cutout, animatronic dancing santa with choral elves. . . anything, really. All they need is a little imagination, but electricity helps too.   More will be known at the end of the Great Winter Hunt 09.

Ten Candy Canes

Special loot items given by the king. It is still unsure what we can do with the special loot of Ten Candy Canes. Hand painted in Santa's workshop, these candy canes come in mint, cherry, sour raspberry, black licorice, and soup. Why soup, you ask? Well, Santa knows that not everybody likes candy.  More will be known at the end of the Great Winter Hunt 09.

Nine Reindeer Antlers

Special loot items given by the king. It is still unsure what we can do with the special loot of Nine Reindeer Antlers. You'll be the life of the party with these stylish reindeer antlers, which are attached to headbands for ease of wear. This model is personally endorsed by the fifth grade class of Gnawnia middle school, who used them to put on the most successful Christmas pageant of the past four years.  More will be known at the end of the Great Winter Hunt 09.

Eight Elf Shoes

Special loot items given by the king. It is still unsure what we can do with the special loot of Eight Elf Shoes. People assume that pointy shoes aren't very comfortable, and most of the time they're right. Elf shoes, however, are the exception to the rule. Soft and cushy, these adorable little belled shoes are the perfect thing to wear on those cozy holiday nights by the fire. More will be known at the end of the Great Winter Hunt 09.
